So That Others May Live
The Virginia Canine Response Team is a not for profit corporation in the state of Virginia, and a 501(c)(3) organization. We are an all volunteer group on call 24 hours a day to assist law enforcement and other emergency service agencies in locating lost or missing persons.
VCRT is committed to training and education in order to provide professional handlers and search dogs to the community.
We have certified canine teams in Airscent wilderness, cadaver detection land and water, and First Responder Urban Search & Rescue.
The specific purposes of the organization are:
• To furnish highly trained volunteer teams of dogs and dog handlers for search and rescue work for the benefit and welfare of the community.
• To organize and support the continuing education and training of dogs, dog handlers, and support personnel in accepted search and rescue methods.
• To increase public awareness of search and rescue trained dogs by providing informational and educational programs and demonstrations to institutions, agencies, and community organizations.
This all-volunteer team donates numerous hours each year to provide these professional services without compensation or reward. The Virginia Canine Response Team provides agencies with professional search & rescue services free of charge 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. This all-volunteer team responds to calls for assistance not only throughout the state of Virginia but the rest of the country as well.
